 Makes a Difference


The Governing Board of Directors 
The Governing Board of Directors oversees the University of Missouri-St. Louis Alumni Association. The board is composed of up to 40
elected directors and officers as well as one representative from each association chapter.   


          Each board member is expected to execute the following responsibilities:
      • Be a member of the UMSL Alumni Association and encourage membership to fellow alumni
      • Understand the mission and purpose of the UM-St. Louis Alumni Association
      • Attend and actively participate in board meetings
      • Serve on a standing committee or task force (see below for list)
      • Attend Alumni Association and University events as appropriate
      • Be a spokesperson and advocate for the University and its Alumni Association
      • Demonstrate interest and financial support for the University of Missouri-St. Louis
      • Identify and recruit talented alumni for the Board, other alumni activities, and alumni awards

 


ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MISSION STATEMENT

The UMSL Alumni Association makes a difference by promoting the interests and welfare of the university and serving its present and future alumni.


Committees
The Alumni Association Committees consist of alumni, friends, and students who work together to support the Alumni Association, the University, and the community.  If you would like more information about joining a committee, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@umsl.edu.

Alumni Weekend
The purpose of this committee is to plan Alumni Weekend (reunion).  The committee plans the events for the weekend, markets the event to try to get a good attendance, and helps during the event.

Awards & Recognition
The purpose of this committee is to develop awards and recognition programs, including, but not limited to alumni (such as Distinguished Alumni Award) and faculty. The committee will choose the recipients for these awards. This committee will also select Alumni Association scholarship recipients.

Finance
The primary responsibility of the committee is to advise the Governing Board in financial matters and monitor budgets of alumni chapters and committees. The committee also reviews contracts for revenue generating partners.

Fundraising
The purpose of this committee is to assist in increasing the number of alumni donors to the University by partnership with the Office of Development on various fundraising activities.

Marketing Membership Management
The primary responsibility of this committee is to plan, implement, and evaluate membership structure and programs to increase membership. The commitee will also work to execute an effective marketing plan to increase the overall visibility of the UMSL Alumni Association.

Nominating Committee
The purpose of this committee is to recommend qualified candidates to serve on the Governing Board and as officers of the Association.

Student Engagement
The purpose of this committee is to engage and support students in their successful academic and non-academic careers at UMSL, providing them an avenue into the Alumni Association.
