UMSL DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS
The Distinguished Alumni Award was established in 1987 as the University of Missouri- St. Louis Alumni Association's highest honor presented to alumni by the association. Therefore, the Alumni Association Awards & Recognition Committee shall select award candidates based upon the nominee's achievements. To receive this award, an alumnus/alumnae should have one or more of the following achievements:
- Brought distinction to the UMSL and the alumni community
- Made distinctive and sustained contributions through performance or service to society or UMSL
- Reached a pinnacle of sustained/long-term personal, professional, or volunteer success. This success should have been recognized by their peers
The nomination deadline is April 14, 2024. Recipients will be recognized at the university's Founders celebration.
To nominate an individual for this award, please complete all of the steps (1-3) listed below. Incomplete nominations will not be considered for the award.
1. Complete the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award Online Nomination Form by April 14
2. Include a professional resume, bio or curriculum vitae
3. Include two letters of support
Please note: Current members of the UMSL Alumni Association Governing Board of Directors are ineligible and no self nominations will be considered.
UMSL OUTSTANDING YOUNG ALUMNI (under 35) AWARD
The Outstanding Young Alumni Award is the highest honor presented to young alumni (aged 35 or younger as of December 31, 2024) by the association. Therefore, the Alumni Association Awards & Recognition Committee award candidates based upon the nominees’ achievements. To receive this award, a nominee should have shown outstanding promise and/or have made one or more of the following achievements that are relative to the nominee’s age:
- Brought distinction to the UMSL and the alumni community
- Made notable contributions through professional achievements, service to society, or service UMSL relative to the nominee’s age
- Been recognized by officials and/or organizations for distinctive or significant contributions in public service at the local, state, national or international level
- Reached a notable level of personal, professional, or volunteer success relative to the nominee’s age

Timeline
- The deadline for alumni award nominations is April 14, 2024.
- Alumni Awards are selected through a peer-to-peer review process. A committee comprised of UMSL alumni will meet to review eligible applications and submit award recommendations (and alternates), pending final acceptance of the UMSL Governing Board of Directors in June of 2024.
- The Office of Alumni Engagement will officially notify academic departments and awardees on or before June 30, 2024.
- Awards will be presented in the fall.
